Carl Edward Chastain

Carl Edward Chastain was born November 13, 1936 in Shawnee and departed this life on Thursday, November 1 in Shawnee at the age of 81.

Carl, the son of Lavell and Esther (Herring) Chastain completed school through the Shawnee School system. He proudly served in the US Army, 101st Airborne, stationed in Germany. Carl worked in avionics at Tinker, initially working on the B-52 Bomber and ending his career working on the B1 Bomber. Carl married Alpha Loafman on January 20, 1984 in Gainesville Texas. Together they enjoyed travelling to lakes with their RV. Carl loved motorsports and playing the steel guitar. He was a woodworker and would travel around selling arts and crafts that he designed and manufactured. Over the years Carl owned a couple of different shops in Shawnee, he owned and operated a hobby shop selling and racing slot cars; he also owned a fish and aquarium shop, and he gave of himself as a foster parent to four children.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Milburn Chastain.

He is survived by his wife, Alpha, of the home; son and daughter-in-law Fred and Rosa Chastain of Waxahachie TX; grandchildren, Jake Chastain, Christopher Hernandez, Julio Hernandez, and Chela Hernandez; and great grandchildren, Kateline, Alizia, and Izabell Kozlovsky, and Willow and Elim Hernandez; Carl is also survived by Alpha's family; including her sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Cindy Bugg of Prague, John and Mary Bugg of Stillwater; daughter and son-in-law Trish and Steve Darrah of Shawnee; grandchildren Cory and April Bugg, Jennifer and Kevin Adkins, Marquette and Joy Bugg, and Eric and Kayla Hignite; great grandchildren, Braxton and Braylee Bugg, Darrah and Declin Adkins; and his sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Kenneth Echard of Midwest City; as well as many other family and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 5 at the Walker Funeral Service Chapel in Shawnee with John Bugg officiating. Services under the direction of Walker Funeral Service in Shawnee.
