Young Shawnee Readers Place Fifth In Nation For Minutes Reading

Nia Murimi holds a certificate from the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge. She was one of three Shawnee-area readers to participate in the contest and help the library place fifth in the nation in the library category of the contest.

Starting with their own initiative and then succeeding through their efforts of demonstrating their love of reading, several elementary school students in the Shawnee area have gained some national recognition for both themselves and their local library.

Local readers entered the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge and their efforts helped the Shawnee Public Library place fifth in the nation in the library category of the challenge for most minutes read during the summer.
