Lady Wolves Notch Two More Wins

Add two more victories to the winning column for the Lady Wolves! Shawnee defeated Piedmont and Ponca City on Dec. 11 and Dec. 14 for their fifth and sixth win on the season. Shawnee's Lauren Fields averaged 14.5 points in the two contests.

In the Lady Wolves' second true road game, Shawnee shot 32% to Piedmont's 26.7%, defeating Piedmont 46-33. After being down one at halftime, Shawnee outscored Piedmont by 15 in the third, which ending up being the big difference in the game. Shawnee connected on all six of their free throws in the third, and Shawnee had their least amount of turnovers of the game in the third with one where Piedmont had four.

Leading scorer for the Lady Wolves was Lauren Fields with 19 points on 6-13 shooting and 7-9 from the free throw line. Fields also had six rebounds and three steals. Makyra Tremble followed Fields with 13 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. Emily Hudson led the team in rebounds with nine rebounds – seven of those coming on the offensive glass.

Three days later Shawnee hosted Ponca City in what was a high-scoring affair with the point total being 114. Shawnee found themselves on the winning side 61-53. Fields yet again was the leading lady for the Lady Wolves as she had 10 points on 4-10 shooting, connecting on two of her four three-pointers. Fields did have five turnovers. Ashley Kasterke had her own day, contributing eight points and six rebounds – five of them offensive.

The last game of 2018 for the Shawnee Lady Wolves will be a road match against the Ada Cougars in another non-district game. Shawnee won't have another district contest until they face El Reno for their second meeting whom they defeated for their lone district victory in their second game of the season.
