Jerry Shields

Jerry Shields, 68, resident of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

He was born March 13, 1950, to Wesley and May Belle (Killcrease) Shields in Ada, Oklahoma. He grew up in Oklahoma City where he attended Capitol Hill High School. He then attended Southwest Automotive Tech School and Oklahoma State Tech at Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He worked as an auto mechanic for many years and was a Tecumseh resident for past 30 years.

He loved playing the harmonica and being in pool tournaments. He won many trophies in these tournaments throughout the years. He also enjoyed playing his records on his old record player.

He was a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Norma Jean Shields and Karen Shields; two brothers, Tommy Shields and Larry Shields; and grandson Gabriel Shields.

He is survived by his wife, Jenifer Sloan Shields of the home; six sons, Vinson Shields, Larrison Shields, Timothy Shields, Darren Shields, Michael Shields, and Brent Shields; two daughters, Tisha Shields Morgan and Kelly Shields; grandchildren Desirae and spouse Deric Spoon, Darian Shields, Jalyn Williams, Aaliyah Shields, Ty Shields, Angelique Shields, Eliana Shields, Elias Shields and Faith Shields; 5 great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.

Services were held Jan. 9 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Victor Cope officiating. Burial followed at High Hill Cemetery in Ada under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
