Water Meter Project Flowing Along

The Shawnee Municipal Authority Monday, approved a quote of $26,000 from Tyler Technologies to assist with a mass meter swap for the Advanced Metering Infrastructure project.

A memo submitted by Chance Allison, CPA, Finance Director and City Treasurer, said, “The agreement with Tyler Technologies would allow the City’s water department to focus on providing customer service to water customers and eliminate the opportunity for overtime and erroneous input as each of the approximate 13,000 water accounts meter information is required to be updated. The City utilizes Incode, a product of Tyler Technologies, for utility billing and as such is the only vendor option for the mass meter swap.”

The board also approved a $100,000 contract with Haze and Russell Consultants for project management services for the Advanced Metering Infrastructure project. According to the payment schedule $7,000 for pre-construction services is due upon contract approval.

The remaining payments will be made as following are met or completed: Project Planning and Billing Interface Phase $23,350; Network Deployment $23,350; Meter Deployment 50% of Total Complete $18,600; Meter Deployment 90% of Total Complete $13,850; and Closeout Phase Complete $13,850.

The board approved an agreement between the Pottawatomie County Development Authority (PCDA), Shawnee Municipal Authority and Tecumseh Utility Authority regarding the operation and maintenance of the Wes Watkins Reservoir with two changes. The words “and or MPWA” would be removed from paragraph 7c and language would be added back into the agreement to guarantee PCDA up to 100,000 gallons of water per day.

The next meeting of the Shawnee Municipal Authority will be the special called meeting Monday, June 10, to hold the public hearing for the FY 2019-2020 fiscal year budget.
