PCDA Board Makes Quick Work Of Meeting Agenda Items

August 15, 2019

It took less than 20 minutes start to finish, to complete all items on the agenda at the Aug. 8 meeting of the Pottawatomie County Development Authority monthly board meeting.

Wes Watkins Reservoir Project Manager Steve Shultz gave a short report regarding upkeep around the reservoir. He said Shawnee Conservation District had completed brush hogging the area around the lake and the cuttings were being bailed.

“That is the first cutting of two,” said board chairman Marty Lewis.

Shultz said funding for “30 hours per cutting” had been approved by the Pottawatomie County Commissioners. The first cutting came in under 30 hours and that included fixing some of the washouts.”

Shultz also told the board he was continuing to look into the possibility of offering disc golf at the reservoir. He has been in contact and received some preliminary pricing from Oklahoma City Disc Golf Association.

Shultz also said he had researched the purchase cost of kayak which ranged from $200 to $500 each. He will continue to look into these and gather more information to bring back to the board at a later date.

Shultz said two bids to fix the flooring in the PCDA office had been received; one for $3,200 and one for $3,800.

PCDA Manager Robbie Fitzgerald said both pumps were functioning normally. As for the system, Fitzgerald said a few more service taps had been installed. Otherwise, personnel were concentrating on general maintenance, line locates, and service orders.

The board will hold its next regular meeting Thursday, Sep. 12, at 4:30 pm at the PCDA office located at 17508 Bethel Road.
