Lady Savages Open With 3 Wins

Lady Savage Volleyball is off and running for the season and the T-Town ladies opened season on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Life Christian Academy in Choctaw with straight set wins. Tecumseh went 3-0, beating Life 25-12, 25-16 and 25-20.

Skye Branham led the team with 18 assists. Bailey Swanner took control of the net with 10 kills in the win for the Lady Savages Megyn Walker played Libero (Defensive Specialist) for Tecumseh.

On Thursday, the Lady Savages hosted their first quasi home game of the season. Tecumseh is currently playing home volleyball games at the former St. Gregory’s due to the ongoing renovation of the Tecumseh gym.

The Lady Savages hosted their long-time nemesis, Noble and fought the Lady Bears tough as they took them to five sets. Noble ended up taking the match 3-2 in the end.

On Saturday, Tecumseh played in the Community Christian School (CCS) Tournament in Norman and came out even against some stiff competition. The Lady Savages beat Lawton Ike in two straight sets and then beat Harding Charter 2-1. The Lady Savages fell in two straight sets to the host CCS and then lost 2-1 to the OKC Knights to finish the tournament with two wins and two losses. Individual stats were not available at press time for the Noble match or the CCS Tournament.

The Lady Savages (3-3) will be at Liberty in Shawnee today (Thursday) and then will play in the Sand Springs Tournament tomorrow and Saturday. Tecumseh will travel to Seminole on Monday before hosting Southeast on Tuesday at St. Gregory’s.
