Bethel Finishes Season 5-5, Band Keeps The Music Flowing

November 14, 2019

Bethel’s football season came to a bitter end Friday when they lost 60-58 at Lone Grove.

The Wildcats tied the game at 52-52 in the fourth, only to have Lone Grove take the lead with another touchdown.

Devin Acklin then scored a 52-yard touchdown on a pass from Gunner Smith to come within two points of the Longhorns, but a botched two-point conversion cost the Wildcats the game.

Even though Bethel lost, there was some cause for joy.

Smith joined the ranks of Oklahoma’s highest all-time passing yards. The senior quarterback finished his high school career with 7,617 passing yards and 76 touchdowns. He completed 592 out of 1054 passes.

His record puts him at 24 on the all-time passing yards list.

Head Coach Joey Ginn was selected as an All State Coach

Corey Metscher was the high scorer of the night with 20 points, followed by D Wood with 12 points.

Gage Nessel with 22 made the most tackles for the Wildcats.

Bethel finished their season with a 5-5 record. Only two of those wins were district games.
