Fire Chief Leaving

December 19, 2019

Longtime Tecumseh Fire Chief Aaron Williams is moving on.

Williams announced last week in a social media post that he will become the Seminole fire chief Jan. 6.

"I'll eliminate any rumors," he said on Facebook. "January 3 will be my final day with Tecumseh Fire Department. On Jan. 6, I start a new chapter in my life that I am very excited about, I will become the Fire Chief for the City of Seminole."

Williams said the past week "has been a roller coaster of emotions. A couple of notifications were extremely hard, especially when I've been with TFD in some fashion since 1996. Thank you to the city council, the city manager for entrusting me with overseeing TFD for so many years, and Jimmy Stokes Jr. (the assistant fire chief) for being right beside me and virtually making things fall into place."

He also thanked Seminole officials with giving him the opportunity.

"Most of my adult life has been with TFD in some fashion (volunteer to career)," Williams said. "It was a very hard decision but God opened a door for me. I'll miss TFD but on the same hand I'm excited for the new chapter to begin."

The Williams family is not moving; "the kids will remain in Tecumseh Schools ... it's all they've known!"

Williams also serves as the city's emergency management director.
