Dale Overcomes Wewoka In High-Scoring Matchup

Dale hit their stride last week.

Both teams added two wins each, home wins against Christian Heritage Academy and away wins at Wewoka.

Against CHA, the Lady Pirates had a rough start, trailing 14-8 at the end of the first quarter and tied 24-24 at the half, but picked up after the half with a renewed vigor to overtake the Lady

Crusaders 65-57.

Danyn Lang led the team in points with 17, followed by Elaine Witt with 12, Jaci McClure with 11, Mackenzie Gill with 10, Brook Bullard with 6, Faith Wright with 6 and Anna Hester with 4.

The Pirates also trailed the Crusaders after the first quarter 19-17, but in the second quarter, Dale kept CHA scoring down to just nine points while they scored 20. In the third quarter, again the Pirates stopped up the Crusaders, only allowing them to score four points, which all but secured their 58-44 win.

Trae Thompson scored the game high with 17, followed by Ike Shirey with 15, Dallen Forsythe with 14, Carter Crowe with 7 Connor Kuykendall and Cedric Scott with 2 each, and Brady Johnson with 1.

On Friday, the Lady Pirates didn't let up one bit against Wewoka, beating the Lady Tigers 82-53.

14 Lady Pirates added points to the scoreboard: McClure with 14, Witt with 12, Lang with 11, Wright with 9, Miller with 8, Brook Rutland with 7, Emilia Idleman with 4, Gill with 4, Hester with 4, Justyce Shirey with 2, Makenzy Herman with 2, Avery Watkins with 2, Libby Johnson with 2 and Addie Bell with 1.

The Pirates had just as good of a scoring night, beating the Tigers 73-60.

Lead scorers were Crowe and Ike Shirey with 22 points each, followed by Forsythe with 10, Thompson with 7, Johnson with 5, Kuykendall with 3, Josh Cody with 3 and Scott with 1.
