Tecumseh Closes City Meetings To In-Person Public Participation
Public Comments Can Be Submitted By Telephone, Email or Dropbox at City Hall

As of 1 p.m. today, the city of Tecumseh issued an urgent notice announcing the closing of all public meetings to in-person public participation as a result of the current COVID-19 threat.
The notice sent to the Countywide & Sun states, “ON A TEMPORARY BASIS and UNTIL FURTHER ORDER OF THE MAYOR, only members of the governing body and essential staff will be allowed into the Council Chambers during the Tecumseh Council meetings. Also, UNTIL FURTHER ORDER OF THE MAYOR, members of the public will not be allowed into the Council Chambers during the Tecumseh Council meetings."
The notice did not state what level of access members of the media would be allowed. When asked for clarification, Mayor Eddie Parker told the Countywide & Sun journalists will not be excluded from being physically present at the meetings.
Additionally, the city of Tecumseh will livestream council meetings on the town’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/cityoftecumsehok/) in a continued effort to facilitate public participation and observation during these unprecedented times, the notice stated.
City officials have set up three methods for public comments to be submitted on items for the upcoming April 2 regular meeting agenda. Comments must be submitted by 3 p.m., Friday, March 27, by any of the following means:
1. Email: You can email your NAME and ADDRESS and comments to [email protected] before the meeting. Please identify the Agenda item or PUblic Comment you wish to address in your comments. Your comments will be read into the record.
2. Telephone: You can record your NAME and ADDRESS and comments at (405) 598-4314 by March 27, 2020 before 4:30 p.m.. Please identify the Agenda item or Public Comment you wish to address in your comments. Your comments will be read into the record.
3. Drop Box outside of City Hall: You can provide your NAME and ADDRESS and any hand-written comments by dropping off a note at the box located in front of City Hall (114 North Broadway Street) before the meeting by 4:30 p.m. Please identify the Agenda item or Public Comment you wish to address in your comments. Your comments will be read into the record.
