Pottawatomie County's First COVID-19 Case Confirmed

State health officials confirmed Wednesday a Pottawatomie County resident has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The state total jumped to 164 cases, according to the Oklahoma State Department of Health. Wednesday’s announcement came 19 days after the Oklahoma’s first official case was confirmed in Tulsa County on March 6.

Five deaths and 59 hospitalizations have been reported by OSDH as of presstime.

Pottawatomie County joined 26 other counties with confirmed cases now impacted by Gov. Kevin Stitt’s amended Executive Order closing all non-essential businesses, as of 11:59 pm Wednesday, until April 15.

All restaurants in those counties have also been restricted to take-out only.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health confirmed an additional 74 positive cases of COVID-19 today, bringing to etotal to 322 across 38 counties. Five new counties now have confirmed cases - Caddo, Cherokee, Choctaw, Latimer and Pittsburg..

An additional 19 hospitalzations were also confirmed today, bringing that total to 105, with eight total deaths.
