Local Businesses Adapt To Stay Open

 

Changes are happening so fast during this crisis. Every business is struggling to keep up with the latest updates and rule changes. Customers aren’t sure who is open and who has closed their doors.

Open For Business is a new Facebook group hosted by the Countywide & Sun. Businesses located in Pottawatomie County are encouraged to post updates to the page regarding hours of operation and any changes to normal operating status. Please know that all the information listed below was the latest information received as of deadline Tuesday. With changes happening daily, we suggest calling the business to verify hours and access before making the trip.

Hudson Place, 129 S. 11th Street, McLoud is temporarily closed but encourages patrons to check out the Facebook page www.facebook.com/shophudsonplace. Owner Orentha Hudson said, “If you really need something, I will ship it to you. If you’re local, I will do porch drop-offs.”


Gilbert Insurance and Tecumseh Tag said, “We are OPEN! The lobby is closed. If you call when you pull up to the office at 405-598-2145, we will help you renew your tag, get your title changed, or any tag work.” They can also take insurance payments or help with insurance needs. “Just send your documents through the maildrop, and we will get you taken care of.”

Shawnee Dumpster Service is open. Just give them a call at 405-594-4381. SDS delivers. “This is a great time to do a little spring cleaning!!!”

Sonic, located at the corner of Hwy 177 and Hardesty Road, is open 6 am – 9 pm Monday through Friday and 9 am to 9 pm Saturday and Sunday.

Rustic Rose is closed to the public. “Sadly, no home delivery,” said owner Kathleen Fugate. “We are still available for funeral work.”

Shawnee Paint is open. “As our customers continue to work to keep their customers’ vehicles working, we will remain open,” said owner Cindy Stiles. “Our staff are taking extra precautions to keep themselves, as well as our customers safe & healthy.” Local customers, call ahead to have supplies delivered without getting out of your car locally, 405-275-1160. All statewide deliveries will remain on regular schedule.”

Paul’s Place Steakhouse is open for pick-up and delivery. Call in your order to 405-275-5650. Check out its Facebook page or find it at paulsplacesteakhouse.com 

House Cleaning by Karen Is open. “We are sanitizing and taking precautions for all our present and new clients,” said owner Karen Jones. “We do residential and commercial cleaning/sanitizing.” Find it on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/HouseCleaningbyKarenLLC/

Jim’s Portable Toilet & Septic Service said, “We are open. We are taking all the safety precautions for our employees and customers.” Available 24/7 for emergencies and 8 am to 5 pm for non-emergencies. Call 405-273-9038 or 405-275-5161 for all your septic, aerobic, and portable toilet needs.


Hardesty Grocery & Market said, “We are still open, and we have plenty of meat!” Call-in orders only, 405-273-7295. They will call you when your order is ready for pick up. Please pick it up promptly.

Richards Drug offers curbside and delivery only. The current store hours are Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5:30 pm, and Saturday 9 am to noon. “We apologize for any inconvenience, but we are certain we will be able to care for you in the same manner as we always have. Please be patient as we are all in this together, and we are doing our very best to ensure everyone’s well-being.”

Crows Farm Markets said, “We will remain open as long as we are healthy. When you come in, we have gloves and hand sanitizer for you to use. Please call ahead with your order, 405-273-4320. We appreciate you and want to continue feeding you.”

Roller Shaved Ice was open Saturday, March 27. Check its Facebook page for dates and times they are open for business. 

Walgreens by the Shawnee Mall is open daily, 9 am to 5 pm, including the pharmacy. Walgreens on Harrison is open 9 am to 9 pm, Monday through Friday and 10 am to 6 pm Saturday and Sunday. 

Cope’s Café in Macomb is open for take-out and drive-through only. Call 405-765-9899 to place an order. 

Harrison Discount Pharmacy, 1422 N. Harrison, Shawnee is open. “Please note store hours and services may be impacted by COVID-19. Call 405-273-9906 to confirm hours and for more information.”

Carter’s Beef and Elect Vapin, located on the northwest corner of the only stoplight in Tecumseh, is ready for any call-in orders. 405-203-0084 or 202-3528

The Countywide & Sun is open. We have temporarily closed our doors to the public. However, we are still gathering news, writing stories, and putting out a paper.
