Following a hard-fought, 25-20, district-opening loss to the Christian Heritage Crusaders (2-2, 1-0), the Bethel Wildcats (3-1, 0-1) will travel to Washington (4-0, 1-0) tomorrow night for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

"They're a good football team, well-coached and built around the run game. They probably run 60% of the time. They're not huge upfront but big for 2A linemen, and they do a good job of creating angles," Coach Joey Ginn assessed.

The Warriors have been a juggernaut in Oklahoma high school football for well over 20 years. In just the past three seasons, they have compiled a record of 38 wins and seven losses. The last time they failed to reach the playoffs was before the birth of the entirety of their roster.

They opened the non-district portion of the 2020 season at Pawnee, winning 35-14; at Sulphur, winning 31-20; and home against Lindsay, winning 28-0. They beat district foe, Purcell, 40-27 last Friday night. Coach Ginn had a better description, "They out-lasted Purcell."

"Their quarterback is a sophomore, and he does a great job for them. They have a 200-pound running back who is a tough runner. They will operate out of twenty-plus formations."

"Defensively, they run a 3-4 scheme with two high safeties."

Coach Ginn likely will spend more time coaching Bethel not to beat Bethel this week, however. "The big thing is we need more consistency and discipline. We need to run the ball better to take the pressure off the quarterback. We will focus on being better on down and distance situations and taking what they give us."
