Jimmie Ruth Ward
March 4, 2021
Longtime Tecumseh, Oklahoma, resident Jimmie Ruth Ward died Monday, Feb. 22, 2021, at the age of 92
Jimmie was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma, on June 3, 1928, to Eva May (Hurd) and James Lawrence Witt. After graduation, she married her Bethel High School sweetheart Bob, which began a romance lasting over 60 years.
She worked as a cashier for Al's Supermarket, Humpty Dumpty Grocery, and Safeway, while at the same time being a loving mother, wife, and homemaker.
She loved her dogs and cats (Mr. Daisy deserves special mention) and all of God's creatures including the occasional opossum and raccoon who got fat on the treats she would leave on the porch. Jimmie was most fond of visiting with her friends, whether under the front yard maple tree or with Bob and good friends at the local eateries.
She liked to crochet and left several nice keepsake items for her children. She and Bob had a special get-a-way camp site in Tishomingo for fishing and just relaxing with friends and family. She enjoyed watching her favorite sports teams, the Oklahoma Sooners, Dallas Cowboys, and the Chicago Cubs. Garage sales were her passion.
Jimmie was preceded in death by her husband Bob, daughter Suzy, mother and father, cousins Jim and Mary Lou Post, special friends Al and Oma Enderle, and Judy McDonald.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, James R. (Kip) Ward of Dallas and Rick and Cheri Ward of Tecumseh; two grandsons, Erich Ward and his wife Bonnie of Chicago, Il., and Adam Ward of San Francisco, CA; one great-grandson Baxter Brieden Ward; three step-grandchildren, Judy, Joe (wife Mita), and Jacob Ponce; and seven step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews, and good friends Jim and Delores Sing, Cecil Santino, Robert Barnett, Verlie Grimmett, and Kim Gentry.
Arrangements were handled by Alternatives Cremation and Funeral Service.
