Tecumseh Golden Age Center

March 25, 2021

There is still no decision made about when the Senior Center will reopen for in house meals. Until then, we enjoy our drive by meals.

We received a donation in memory of Lorene Haynes. Remember we are a non-profit organization so donations are non taxable. We extend our sympathy to the family of Curt Wright .

On March 20, we welcomed the first day of Spring. Did you know that the longest day of the year is the first day of Summer, and the shortest day is the first day of Winter? To me, Spring is just not long enough.

Here are the 10 signs of Spring!

1. Of course, it is the first day of Spring that covers the months of March, April, and May.

2. The time change occurred on March 14 when we sprang forward an hour so that we now have more daylight each day. The first week is a little hard making the change, but I love it.

3. The weather changes to warmer temperatures so that we put our sweaters, coats, and blankets away till next winter.

4. The birds return, and the flowers begin to bloom. The Redbud trees are beginning to bloom. I can't wait for the humming birds to come, and it is time to put in that garden.

5. Many turn to spring cleaning of their closets, drawers, windows, etc. The center takes those donations as well.

6. "April showers bring May flowers." So don't complain about the rain!

7. March 17 we celebrated St. Patrick's Day to bring about the luck of the Irish by wearing green, and to keep from getting pinched! The country of Ireland is so beautiful in Spring.

8. April Fool's Day happens on April 1. Not my favorite, since I don't like foolish jokes played on me.

9. We celebrate Easter with egg hunts and new Easter outfits. But the real reason is to stop again to remind ourselves of the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This year it is early because it always occurs on the first Sunday after the first full moon of Spring. Hope to see you in church services on April 4. Then make it a habit.

10. Earth Day is April 22 when we emphasize the importance of the 3 R's: Reuse, Reduce, Recycle. This year the City of Tecumseh will again have a clean-up day when you may get rid of those large unwanted items.

Enjoy!
