Virginia “Ginger” (Garretson) Edwards, 58, of Tecumseh, OK, died Sept. 25, 2021, in Shawnee.

She was born March 16, 1963, to Carl Franklin Garretson and Barbara Ann (Henry) Garretson-Webb.

Ginger was raised in Oklahoma City, Tecumseh and Macomb. She graduated with the class of 1981 from Macomb High School.

She married Benjamin Edwards, Sept. 16, 1989 in Tecumseh, OK.

Ginger was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Tecumseh.

She worked several years at Early Headstart and Granny’s Stephens. Ginger was a published poet.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mason and Ressie Garretson, Betty Jane Wiley; her father, Carl Franklin Garretson; mother, Barbara Ann (Henry) Garretson-Webb; mother and father-in-law, Luther and Ruth Edwards; great-nephew, Franklin James Mallory; several aunts, uncles and in-laws.

Survivors include her husband, Benjamin Edwards; sons, Robert and Rebecca Edwards of Shawnee, OK, Richard Edwards of Midwest City, OK, and Darrell Edwards of Tecumseh, OK; daughters, Lisa and Joe Harvey of Shawnee, OK, Cheyanna Schlottman of Midland, TX, and Brad Schlottman of Tecumseh, OK, Rylie Edwards of Shawnee, OK, Zoey Edwards of Tecumseh, OK, and Makayla Edwards of Tecumseh, OK; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Karla and Russell Grubbs of Macomb, OK, and Robin and Kenny Waldroupe of Tecumseh, OK; several nieces, nephews, adopted children, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be 9 am-8 pm, Sept. 30, 2021, and continue through service time. Service will be 2 pm, Oct. 1, 2021, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Jacobson, Snyder First Baptist Church and Reverend Mack Peercy, Calvary Missionary Baptist Church Tecumseh officiating.

Burial will follow at Old Moral Cemetery in Tribbey, OK, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. A celebration of Virginia’s life will be live-streamed through Cooper Funeral Home’s Facebook page.
