CPN Donates Hay For Ranchers Affected By Fires

After fires in Texas and western Oklahoma burned more than one million acres in February and March, Citizen Potawatomi Nation stepped up to help some of those impacted by the fires. Friday, March 8, trucks arrived to load CPN’s donation of 150 bales of hay to be sent to farms in western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle.

PAVE Forums Set For Monday And Tuesday Night Next Week

On May 13, candidates for Shawnee Mayor and the Shawnee City Commission seats will have their opportunity to answer questions. All candidates have agreed to participate. The forum will begin at 7 pm at Shawnee City Hall. For those who cannot attend, the forum will be available on the City of Shawnee YouTube channel.

Champions Against Sexual Assault Honored

At the Sexual Assault Awareness Award event, Project SAFE recognized six individuals who have been instrumental in supporting and advocating for victims of sexual assault. The recipients included law enforcement officials, advocates, and other professionals who work tirelessly to guide victims through the most difficult times of their lives. The awards ceremony took place on Friday, April 25, where each honoree was recognized for their dedication, empathy, and compassion towards victims.

A Look Back At A Teaching Career That Began at New Hope School

In 1961, Donald Rominger, Jr. was 21 years old and just venturing out on his teaching career. He was a 1958 Tecumseh graduate who had completed his studies at Oklahoma Baptist University in three years. Everything was new to him at New Hope School, which stood at the corner of New Hope Road and Gaddy Road, west of Tecumseh, until Jan. 11 of this year.
