Tecumseh First Assembly of God Pastor Don Jonker has just released his inaugural work as an author entitled “Invitation to Intimacy: Touch Christ - Heal Wounds - Love Deeply.”

The reader begins with a first person vision of Christ similar to that of the disciple Thomas, where an invitation is given to have an intimate view of the wounds of Christ. The experience drives away any doubts regarding the powerful love God expressed to us all through the suffering of His Son Jesus Christ.

Every Sunday from now until Palm Sunday, a Scripture based message from the pulpit will touch on one of the wounds of Christ discussed in the book’s chapters and focus upon the healing of our own hurts: mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically. For example, the chapter entitled “The head of Christ” will address the needs of people struggling with mental illness, depression, evil or lustful thoughts, etc. Time will be given for prayers for healing in the 10:30 am service, and in the 5:30 pm service, the Worship will include a more focused time of intercessory prayer for mental freedom, deliverance, and wholeness.

Some of the other chapter titles are “The Hands of Christ,” “The Side of Christ,” and “The Face of Christ.” On Palm Sunday, the topic will be “How Christ Loved us from the grave.”

E-books can be purchased on Amazon and Kindle under the author’s name, Don Jonker, for $8.95. Currently, paperback copies can be obtained by contacting the author directly at 405-915-5622 or can be obtained at Tecumseh First Assembly of God before and after service times at $10 per book (list $12.95)

Pastor Don and Patti Jonker, along with the congregation of Tecumseh First Assembly of God, 104 S. 1st Street, are presently engaged in a missions project to raise funds to put a copy of the book in the hands of Pastors, Missionaries, and Evangelists. They believe that Ministers, as well as the people they minister to, need the encouragement, healing, deliverance, and anointing that comes from Christ’s unfailing love toward us. Why? Because often those that minister love to the hurts of others may be wounded by the very ones they are trying to help. In His book, the author encourages all who feel like giving up to look more closely at the example of Christ, who continued to love us even when it seemed there was no more strength left to give. Christ loved us in life, He loved us postmortem, and He loves us still. Love never fails.
