PCJLS increases auction sales

This year’s Pottawatomie County Junior Livestock Show (PCJLS) Premium Auction and add-ons totaled a little over $325,000, an increase from last year, “with all monies going to the exhibitors,” said Suzanne Gilbert.

2026 Oklahoma Ag in the Classroom Teacher of the Year

Jennifer Meyer is a first-grade teacher at Grove Elementary School District in Shawnee. She has been teaching for 14 years and has taught at her current school for five years.

PCJLS celebrates 89 years of supporting youth

The Pottawatomie County Junior Livestock Show (PCJLS) is returning next month, kicking off with the Pig Roast and Trophy Auction on Feb. 2, beginning at 6:30 pm at FireLake Arena.Then, the livestock show will be held Feb.

NRC sophomore receives SAE Grant for welding project

On Jan. 15, North Rock Creek (NRC) Public Schools announced on their Facebook page that sophomore John Williams is one of only 400 students nationwide to receive a $1,000 National FFA Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Grant.

Abney, Flowers receive their American FFA Degrees

During the 98th Annual National FFA Convention & Expo, on Nov. 1, there were two members from Pottawatomie County who were presented with their American FFA Degrees - the highest degree in the organization.

County 4-H, FFA members make a difference

There are many “elves” in this season of giving, and several of them are wearing blue jackets or green shirts.On Nov. 13, Tecumseh FFA set a new record during their annual Food Drive Scavenger Hunt - collecting 3,736 items in one hour, according to their Facebook post.

Bethel Students Excel at Central District AFR Speech Contest

AFR, TECUMSEH — Three Bethel students placed in their respective categories at the American Farmers & Ranchers (AFR) Central District Speech Contest held in Tecumseh, Nov. 10.
