County Approves Use Of Sales Tax Monies For eSports Program

Tecumseh Public Schools is one step closer to beginning the eSports program.

Monday, Nov. 7, the Pottawatomie County Board of County Commissioners approved the use of educational sales tax monies to purchase gaming computers and equipment for the program. Tecumseh School presented three quotes for each product and asked to go with CDW for a total bid of $25,342.20.

The board also approved an OMMA Certificate of Compliance renewal for Black Sheep Processing. Emergency Management Director Chad Larman said this was an address change for the company as they were relocating from Okemah to McLoud.

Larman reported that members of the Pottawatomie County Emergency Management Office responded with the Oklahoma Disaster Task Force to Mc-Curtain County, Idabel, Saturday. They provided a drone strike team to perform damage assessment. Larman said, “We flew from the Red River to Idabel, to Broken Bow, and also Grant, OK in Choctaw County for the Choctaw Nation Emergency Management.

A request for a letter of recommendation for Robert and Janice Richards for a FEMA appeal was also approved. Larman said their is a flooding issue on the property. He said recent rains washed the bricks that had been placed in the area to slow the problem into the county tin horn. The couple has already received a letter from the Town of Bethel Acres.

Disposal resolutions were approved for a 2020 Dodge Durango and a 22011 Chevy Tahoe, both belonging to the Sheriff’s Office.

A utility permit for the Tri-County Rural Water District was approved.

The board took no action on the agenda item regarding the use of educational sales tax funds by Maud Public Schools to pay for a PC Center/Safe Room. A representative from Maud school was not present at the meeting to answer questions, so the board decided to take no action at this time.

The county has begun moving into the new administrative building next to the county courthouse, However, meetings will continue to be held at 14101 Acme road until 2023.
