Oklahoma’s First EDM (Electronic Dance Music) Music Festival will debut in Shawnee.
Several major EDM artists and DJs will make their way to Shawnee in late June to play in Oklahoma’s first annual Happy Festival.
The 52-acre Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center in Shawnee will host the music festival on June 24-26. The event will include camping, food trucks, bounce houses and water slides, five stages and over 100 artists.
Majority owner of the festival and Shawnee native Brian Butler said that Shawnee is the perfect place to hold Oklahoma’s first EDM music festival. “Every other state has festivals of this nature,” Butler said. “It’s gonna be a yearly event, getting bigger every year. This is Oklahoma’s chance to be a part of something huge. And I thought nowhere better than in the heart of Oklahoma at the Shawnee expo center.”
The festival will feature around 100 EDM artists. The Cat Dealers, a brother duo from Brazil who boast over 2.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify, will headline the festival. Other notable artists include Nitti, a Miami based producer who was nominated for a Grammy in 2021, and MADDS, a 21-year-old international DJ born in South Africa.
The festival is named after Anand “Happy” Patel, an entrepreneur and friend of Butler’s who died in a plane crash in 2018. “I ended up calling it, in his memory, the Happy Festival, just in his honor,” Butler said. One dollar of every ticket transaction will be donated to the Happy World Foundation Inc., a nonprofit organization created by Happy’s twin brother, Akash.
Tent camping, car camping and RV camping will be available to festival goers through the duration of the event. Access to electricity, water and bathrooms are included in the price of the camping ticket.
The event will be 16 and up. Tickets can be purchased online through Ticket Storm. One day, three day, and camping passes are available for purchase. For more information, visit the event website, happyfestivalok.com.
