Entries Up At The 2024 Free Fair

  • Amadeus Sandifer and Jacob Vincent, with belt buckle, tied for first place in the Pottawatomie County Free Fair Big Bass Contest. Both of their fish weighed 5.7 pounds each. There was also a tie for second place between Grayson Jones and Cruz Winn, who both caught 2.12-pound bass. The first-place winners will receive $220 and a belt buckle, and the second-place winners get $110 each.   • Gus Goodson, of North Rock Creek FFA, was named this year's recipient of the Ann "Sis" Gilbert Memorial Award at the Pottawatomie County Free Fair Awards. He received a plaque, $100, and his name on the traveling plaque, held by last year's winner Poppy Robinson.   • Marshall Owens and Barrett Nunneley, on one Bethel team, and Gracie Little and Hailey Gomez, on the McLoud team, compete in relay races at the 15th Annual Farmhand Olympics during the Pottawatomie County Free Fair on Sept. 4. There were six teams from Bethel FFA, one from McLoud FFA, one from Shawnee FFA and one from North Rock Creek FFA who participated in the relays and individual events, including seed spitting, dummy roping, corn stalk javelin and horseshoes.

    Pottawatomie County Free Fair participants had nearly 1,800 entries by 3987 exhibitors this year.In 2023, 1670 entries and 336 exhibitors were registered. This year, 387 exhibitors had 1,798 entries. The Free Fair Board was happy to see the increase.This is the first year that the Pottawatomie County Free Fair has used ShoWorks, an exhibitor and entries management software....
