The Gold Star Families Memorial Monument was installed on Oct. 17 at Woodland Veterans Park, in Shawnee, just southwest of the Oklahoma Veterans Memorial Wall, which lists 7,568 names of Oklahomans killed in war. The four panels of the new monument, depicting Homeland, Family, Patriot, and Sacrifice, were designed by the Shawnee Oklahoma Veterans Memorial Committee, and installation was completed by the Woody Williams Foundation.
A light silhouette of a soldier is formed on the northwestern side of the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument, which was installed at Woodland Veterans Park on Oct. 17 by the Woody Williams Foundation. The Shawnee Oklahoma Veterans Memorial Committee designed the panels on the opposite side.
