District 23 District Attorney Allan Grubb submitted a letter of resignation to the office of Governor Kevin Stitt today (Friday, Aug. 12). He states the resignation is effective Sept. 30, 2022, but he also said he will voluntarily suspend himself from office immediately so the new interim DA may be appointed. The letter, in its entirety, can be read at the link found at the end of this article.
Grubb said he needs to focus on some health concerns for both himself and his family and would also use this time to transition back to his private practice.
Grubb’s Attorney, Robert Gifford, said the Accusation For Removal should be dismissed and, therefore, there will be no hearing on Aug. 16. Gifford also said he will not continue to seek the payment of legal fees by the state for his services.
The Countywide & Sun will follow up on all the information received on Monday, Aug. 15, when the courts reopen and folks return to their respective offices.
