  • On behalf of the Shawnee Board of City Commissioners, Mayor Eric Stephens presented a Certificate of Recognition to the Pleasant Grove Girls Basketball team who won their second consecutive ORES Division III Championship. The Lady Warriors then presented Stephens with a signed jersey. Shawnee High School Girls Swim Team was also recognized for securing their fourth consecutive OSSAA 5A State Championship title.     The Shawnee City Commission approved a $733,335 purchase of a rescue pumper truck at their Apr. 21 meeting, a move Fire Chief James Kriwanek called a cost-saving measure. The truck, expected to arrive in 60 days, saves about $100,000 compared to a $855,000 pumper truck purchased in 2022 but won’t deliver until 2026, Kriwanek said.
