Shawnee’s local broadcasting outlet, Shawnee Ctv wins a special award at the annual 2022 Governor’s Disability Employment Awards of Excellence. Held at the Phillip’s Pavilion on the grounds of the Governor’s Mansion, Daniel Shaughnessy and Shawnee Ctv accepted the award for Media Excellence in this area.
South Central Industries was honored to recommend Shawnee Ctv for great advocacy in the intellectual and developmental disabilities community and has created a valuable partnership with nonprofits like South Central Industries to elevate and amplify their messaging. Shawnee CTV has highlighted South Central Industries on numerous occasions and has used its TV channel to share information about the services that SCI provides and ways the community can support its endeavors for inclusion. The impact has increased visibility in the rural community of Shawnee. They have a strong partnership with SCI, which employs adults with special needs throughout their organization. By providing SCI a platform to share its mission, there is a great outpouring of community support for these special individuals that make the SCI Family complete.
As the award recipient, Daniel Shaughnessy was invited to a very special ceremony where all of the recipients received a commendation from Governor Kevin Stitt. Award winners are annually selected by a panel of public servants and volunteers who either serve people with disabilities or represent organizations that provide direct care for them daily.
