Shawnee Public Library Children's Librarian Jairo Montelongo gives change to Hadley Blake, 10, of Bethel, during the 'Pet Cents' event on June 14. Using play money, Blake bought an ostrich for her pet, and Brylynn Pointer, 11, of Shawnee, bought a giraffe. Montelongo said the library received an American Library Association grant to teach children how to manage finances. Their next event, Making Moo-La, will be on June 21 at 10:30 am.

State 4-H STEM Innovators Grace Hobbs and Madison Maddox watch as Caiden Fullbright, 7, Trace Harrington, 7, and Callahan Lemmings, 4, all of Shawnee, test the first step of their roller coaster with a marble. This was at the 'Build It: Roller Coaster' event at Shawnee Public Library on June 16 where they used insulated tubing, masking tape and a cup to build their coasters. The next Build It event will be 'Ready, Set, Blast Off!' on June 30 at 2 pm.
