A fire in the Jordan Contractors, LLC mechanic barn, at the corner of Maple and 4th streets, sent black smoke over downtown Tecumseh on May 6. Firefighters from Tecumseh, Shawnee, Earlsboro and Bethel had the blaze mostly extinguished in about 30 to 45 minutes, despite explosions possibly caused by drums of used motor oil and acetylene tanks.
