A bugler from OBU and the VFW Post 1317 Honor Guard pose at the Brown Cemetery Veterans Memorial during a dedication ceremony on Nov. 11. The memorial includes a wall, 32-foot flag pole with the five military brances plaque, bench and “Freedom Isn’t Free” metal sign. This charcoal grill was donated by Lowe’s for the Fourth Annual Robert “Bob” Cearley “Ole Pro” Memorial Bowling Tournament and won by Jeremy Wilcox. Karen Hilditch of Tecumseh is determined to honor veterans like her late father, Robert “Bob” Cearley, and late husband, Chris Hilditch.
With the help of her brother Bobby Cearley, she has organized a memorial bowling tournament for the last four years, had a veterans’ memorial built at Brown Cemetery, and has been raising money for wreaths to be placed on 122 veterans’ graves...
