Dru Tischer, a Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP) Specialist for Pottawatomie and Seminole Counties, considers himself to be lucky.
He served as an infantryman in the U.S. Army from 1991 to 1995, and when he saw an opportunity to join the Shawnee Fire Department, he took it.
Other veterans may or may not be that lucky finding a job when they exit the military.
