Water & waste rate increase approved

  • The Shawnee City Commission recognized the Grove Basketball Girls for winning the school's first State Championship. The tournament was hosted by North Rock Creek on Feb. 14. In the first round, they beat Woodall (who had won 14 of the last 16 titles) in the second round, they beat Lone Star, who had beat them twice earlier in the season; they won the Championship game against Marietta 46-22.     To begin the March Shawnee City Commission Meeting, Mayor Eric Stephens recognized the Grove Girls Basketball team for winning the State Championship on Feb. 14. The coach and three players were present to receive the acknowledgement.A water and sewer rate increase, as well as a solid waste increase, were both approved by the commission.
