Pictured right, Shawnee's Lane Cowan poses with a helmet he made and sold at the Fifth Annual Secret Garden Medieval and Fantasy Faire held behind Shawnee Mall on April 25-26. Cowan says he will gladly participate again next time and bring more inventory, as he almost sold out. All booth owners were required to dress up for the event that brought out quite a crowd. Dr. Reid Weber, a professor at the University of Central Oklahoma, speaks about helmets with Angel Fowler of Meeker. Weber is a member of the Glomesdal Vikings group which attends festivals like this to tell about Viking history and demonstrate fighting techniques. Also shown are Emily Cowen and Michal Carson. Also at the event were several arts and crafts vendors, as well as axe throwing and archery brought by Wretched Oaks of Noble. Natasha Dunagan, Countywide & Sun
