The local Memorial Day ceremonies began at the Pottawatomie County Educational Veterans Museum, at 331 N. Broadway in Shawnee, for a Gold Star Families Event.
During the event on May 25, Shawnee Veterans Memorial Committee Chairman Bill Ford gave an update on the museum.
Ford announced that the Scabbard and Blade ROTC Honor Society will move their national headquarters to the museum in Shawnee.
