After winning the District 4A-2 Championship by a one-run differential, the Lady Savages are hosting a Regional Tournament today (Thursday) and tomorrow with a chance to advance to next week’s State Tournament.
Tecumseh (29-4) will host Marlow (15-14), Blanchard (24-11), and Elk City (26-6) in the Regional 2 Tournament. The Lady Savages will open the double elimination tournament against Marlow today at noon followed by Blanchard against Elk City at 2:00. The losers will face each other at 4:00 and the two winners will meet at 6:00. The championship will be determined tomorrow (Friday) with games beginning at 11:00am.
The Lady Savages finished a perfect September against Bethel last Tuesday night before ending the season with two losses against 6A teams. Tecumseh hosted the Lady Wildcats and outhit Bethel 10-1 on the way to an 8-0 six-inning win to finish the clean sweep of September. The win over Bethel was the Lady Savages 19th win in a row.
Serenity Jacoway completed one-hit win by completing six-innings with nine strikeouts and no walks. Jacoway was also 1-for-4 in the game with a run driven in. Bristin Hayes and Katie Overstreet each knocked in tworuns with Hayes going 2-for-4 while Overstreet was 1-for-3 with a double.
Emily Bingham was 3-for-3, including a double and had an RBI. Katelyn Fleming also drove in a run while going 1-for-2.
On Friday, the Lady Savages tasted defeat for the first time since August 24th as they fell to 6A Mustang, 7-2, at the Edmond Festival. Tecumseh fell behind early and trailed 6-0 until pushing two-runs across in the bottom of the fifth. Mustang added an insurance run in the sixth to collect the win.
The Lady Savages outhit Mustang 7-6 in the loss but committed four errors in the loss. Jacoway was charged with the loss in the circle as she gave up seven-runs, five earned while allowing six-hits. Jacoway fanned four and walked four in the game. Jacoway was 2-for-3 at the pate for the Lady Savages.
Jessi Hull picked up both RBI’s in the game while going 3-for-3, including a double. Fleming was 1-for-3 with a double. Overstreet picked up the other Tecumseh hit while going 1-for-3.
This past Monday, the Lady Savages suffered a 9-0 loss as they hosted a very talented Choctaw team. Tecumseh was never really in the game and managed only four-hits in the loss as the Lady Jackets had 12-hits. It was a clean game with neither team committing an error.
Hayes, Hull, Overstreet, and Sami Schweighardt each collected a hit with Hull slugging a double for the Lady Savages. Jacoway suffered the loss as she went three-innings and allowed seven-runs on 10-hits while whiffing four and walking no one. Cadence Oliver came in to relieve Jacoway and allowed two-runs on two-hits over two-innings.
The winner of today’s Regional Tournament will advance to the State Tournament to be held next Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.
