    The Shawnee High School Girls Swim Team won first at the Class 5A State Competition held on Feb. 18 at the Edmond Public Schools Aquatic Center. Their overall team score was 255, and the boys team ranked fourth with 179. The girls team also broke their own 400 Yard Freestyle Relay school record with a score of 3:46.07. They also placed first in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a 1:53.18. Members of the team were Piper McNeil, Ashley McDonald, Natalie Selman, and Gracyn Simpson. The boys team broke their school record in 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, as well, with a score of 3:28.48. Members of the boys team were Vincent Tash, Bryce Holter, Ethan Oller, and Thurman Lee. McNeil, a junior, broke her own school records and state records in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a 1:51.13 and in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a 55.41. Lee, also a junior, broke his own school record in the preliminaries of the 500 Yard Freestyle with a 5:08.64, and placed second in the finals with a 5:09.23.
