On the evening of Sat., Aug. 27, the Tecumseh Roundup Club Arena hosted nearly 110 Berkshire, Chester, Duroc, and Hampshire hogs and their owners from FFA and 4-H groups all over the state.

Organized by the Tecumseh FFA and 4-H Booster Club and the Tecumseh FFA Chapter for the first time, the T-Town Showdown was “a huge success,” said Tecumseh FFA Advisor Dodge Nichols.

Nichols attributed its success to everyone who contributed to the event.

“Many people within the Tecumseh community worked hard to make it a great show for exhibitors all across the state of Oklahoma,” he said. “It took months of planning and people coming together to make it an elite event.”

“Some people came to just watch the show, and some people came for the food and the homemade concession stand. It will only continue to get better and grow each year.”

There were two classes for each breed, and Chris Hofshulte, of Wyandotte, judged the swine. From the two classes, a breed Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion were chosen.

The final winners of the event were Grand Champion, Conner Reichert, of Roland; Reserve Grand Champion, Brooklyn Skidgel, of Pawnee; Third Overall, Halle Pullen, of Stratford; Fourth Overall, Hadley Hale, of Spiro; and, Fifth Overall, Ian Morris, of Yukon.

Winners were awarded cash prizes, buckles, and show buckets.

“All the monies and proceeds that were raised from this show go directly to the Tecumseh 4-H and FFA programs,” said Nichols.
