Lady Savages Headed To Playoffs

    The 16th ranked Tecumseh Lady Savages are 18-5 on the season and are headed to the playoffs with a three-game win streak and winners of 11 of their last 13. The T-Town Ladies will begin the playoffs by hosting Districts tomorrow (Friday) as they face Crossings Christian (10-10).

    Last week was a busy one due to the weather the week before. The Lady Savages went to McLoud on Monday night for a makeup game and came back with a 57-36 win. Tecumseh and McLoud matched each other early with a 14-14 first quarter, but the Lady Savages ran past the Lady Redskins 15-5 in the second for a 10-point lead at halftime.

    The Lady Savages added more distance in the third quarter with a 14-9 advantage sending Tecumseh to the fourth quarter with a 15-point lead. Tecumseh finished off the McLoud girls in the fourth on the way to the 21-point win.

    Kenzli Warden led the Lady Savages with 17-points. Reagan Berry buried 14-points in the paint. Kiarra Stallin tossed in eight-points while Serenity Jacoway and Jadyn Wilson knocked down seven and six-points respectively. Emily Gage had three, and Sadie Boatman had two-points in the win.

    The busy week continued with two home games to wind up the regular season. Mt. St. Mary came to Tecumseh on Tuesday night and went home with a sound trouncing. The Lady Savages started fast and led 14-3 after the opening period and an overwhelming 30-8 lead at halftime.

    The second half was more of the same as the Lady Savages won the third quarter 16-6 on the way to a 46-14 lead on the way to the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Savages emptied the bench as they sailed to a 52-24 win.

    Warden led all scorers with 24-points while Wilson and Berry each tallied eight-points. Jacoway and Stallin each had four-points for Tecumseh, while Kaydee Lewis and Lilah Meeks each added twopoints.

    On Friday night, the Lady Savages celebrated Senior Night as they welcomed Harrah to Tecumseh, and the Lady Panthers came out on fire with five three-pointers to put the Lady Savages in a 22-11 first quarter hole.

    The Lady Savages took control in the second quarter as Tecumseh’s defense held Harrah scoreless until 29-seconds were left in the period. Tecumseh ran off a 14-0 run before the Lady Panthers scored their twopoints. The big defensive effort by Tecumseh gave the Lady Savages a 25-24 halftime lead in front of an excited packed house.

    The third quarter was a real battle between the two teams as the Lady Savages took a 14-9 edge after halftime for a sixpoint lead heading to the final stanza. Tecumseh pulled away in the fourth quarter, coming out on top 55-44.

    Wa rden again scored 24-points to lead the way, including a 5-of-5 effort at the charity stripe in the fourth to help secure the win. Warden was 9-of-11 from the line in the game. Jacoway had a big night with 15-points, including three from beyond the arc. Wilson and Berry ended with eight and sevenpoints respectively, while Katie Overstreet had one-point.
