Franklin Daniel Hill passed away October 19th, 2023.

Frank was born on January 10th, 1934 in Shawnee to Charles Daniel and Ollie Willow (Nichols) Hill of Seminole, OK. Frank graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 1952 and began attending Seminole Junior college. He left SJC to join the US Army from 1953-55 and served in the North Eastern part of the US. Following his Army service, Frank earned a BS from the then East Central State College, Ada in 1957.

As a newly minted Math teacher, he moved west and taught in Compton, CA for two years before returning and teaching at US Grant HS in OKC. 1961 was a pivotal role in Frank’s life because he decided to take an opportunity to become a teacher with the Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS) overseas. His first assignment was in Ankara Turkey, followed by Hahn and Wiesbaden Germany, Rota Spain, Karamursel Turkey, Peshawar Pakistan, Weathersfield England, Kadean and Kubasaki Okinawa, Hessen and Frankfurt Germany.

The positions he held included Math teacher, Asst. Principal, Principal, Secondary Coordinator, Chief of Executive Services, District Superintendent before retiring in 1991 as Special Assistant to the Deputy Director of DoDDS. Along the way he earned a Masters Degree from the University of Oklahoma and completed the course work for a doctorate at the University of Southern California.

Frank is survived by his daughter Britt Hill of OR, his first cousins Betty Ann Woodcock and Charles (Bud) Barton, and many nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents Charles Daniel and Ollie Willow Hill, brothers Harold, James, Gene and Bryce, and sisters, Rachel Risenhoover, Doris Hill, and Wanda Cardenas.

An open house celebration of Frank’s life will be held at his home on Friday, November 3rd from 3-7 pm. Frank will be buried at Little Cemetery, Little, OK.
