Laddie Leon Gilbert of Shawnee passed from this life on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023. Laddie was born May 12, 1940 in Paden, OK to Paul and Vera (Rogers) Gilbert. He graduated from Paden High School.
Laddie owned and operated Shawnee Glass Co. Inc since 1958. He was well known throughout the Shawnee community and never met a stranger. Most all that met him thought that he was a wonderful man.
He married Kay Grider on Jan. 10, 1960, and they had three children together. Laddie loved playing golf, watching OBU basketball, and going to the lake.
His proudest moment was two holes-in-one at golf and spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren. He was also a longtime member of the Elks Lodge for over 50 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Vera Gilbert; brother Kenneth Gilbert; sister Ruby Gilbert; and brother Jim Gilbert.
He is survived by his wife Kay Gilbert of the home; son Greg Gilbert and wife Shelley; son Todd Gilbert and wife Robin; daughter Kristy Gilbert and husband Garrson Souders; 6 grandchildren Chris Gilbert, Brett Gilbert, Logan Gilbert, McKenzie Gilbert, Kennedy Souders, Bristol Souders; and great-granddaughter Blakely Gilbert.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023 at 1 p.m. at University Baptist Church.
