Monte Edminsten, 73, of Little Axe, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023 at his home in Little Axe.
He was born Sept. 27, 1950 to John and Martha (Fair) Edminsten in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Monte was raised in Midwest City, Oklahoma. He graduated from Carl Albert High School with the class of 1969.
After high school he joined the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served his country in Vietnam with the 1st Marine Division during the Vietnam War. After returning from serving his country he began his career at Tinker Air Force Base while going to night school and earning his bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Oklahoma.
He married Linda Sue Brendle on June 27, 1981 and lived together in Little Axe, South of Brendle Corner for the last 42 years. Both are proud members of Pink Baptist Church.
Monte worked at Tinker Air Force Base for 42 years working as a System Analyst and Contracting Officer until his retirement on April 30, 2012.
He lived his retirement to the fullest, taking flying lessons, fishing with his brothers, riding his Harley, participating in Taekwondo, and enjoying the great outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Martha Edminsten.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Sue Edminsten of the home; one son, and one daughter-inlaw, Chad and Jamie Edminsten; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Corrie and Brent Roberts of Lonsdale, AR and Suzanne and Zac Howard of Little Axe, OK; five grandchildren, Brendle, Charlotte, Emilie, Ari and Rozalyn; three brothers and three sisters-in-law, Maurice and Teresa Edminsten of McLoud, OK, Melton and Dana Edminsten of McLoud, OK and Damon and Marsha Edminsten of Albuquerque, NM; and many extended family members and friends.
Services were held Monday, Dec. 4, 2023 at Pink Baptist Church with Reverend Steven Sanders, Pink Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
