Leo Elmer Gokey, 96, passed away April 4, 2024. Leo was born on April 22, 1927 in Miami, Ok. to Adam and Ethel (Brock) Gokey.

Leo proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and Korea being awarded two Purple Hearts and numerous campaign ribbons. He married Mary D. Littleton on December 22, 1952 in Washington State. Leo owned and operated Gokey Dairy Farm east of Tecumseh along with his family for 27 years. He retired from Barton Valve after 11 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Ethel Gokey; grandsons, John Gokey, Jr., Benjamin Lack and Zachary Cleere; granddaughter, Mandy Hollingshead; brothers, Adam Gokey, Jr., Cyrus Gokey, Frank Gokey, Louis Gokey, and half-brother, Johnie “Bear” Gokey; sisters, Louise White and Emma Bernard.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of over 71 years, Mary D. Gokey of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Judy Gokey of Tecumseh, OK; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Murna Lack of Tecumseh, OK, Roselyn and Rick Kerschner of Tecumseh, OK, Joanie and David Scovel of Tecumseh, OK and Carol and Alvin Cleere of Shawnee, OK; 21 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Littleton, and many other loving extended family members and friends.

Services were held April 8, 2024 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Grandson, Jeremy Lack officiating. Burial followed at Forest Hill Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
