George William Cope passed away June 16, 2024. He was born on October 9, 1937 in Dallas, TX and adopted as a baby by William “Bill” and Ila Christine (Northcutt) Cope. George graduated from Tecumseh High School. He served in the US Navy from 1956-1959 and was honorably discharged. George married Erona Jane Classen on August 6, 1960 in Fairview, OK. He worked for Tinker Air Force Base as a Production Controller, and retired after 33 years of service.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Bill and Christine Cope.
Those left to cherish his memory is his wife, Erona Cope of the home; son Daniel R. Cope and wife Alison of Shawnee; son Michael L. Cope and wife Bobbie of Calumet; son James Kevin Cope of Shawnee; granddaughter, Katherine E. Cope and wife Emily of North Logan, UT; two greatgranddaughters, Roslin and Ripley Cope, and other family and friends.
Visitation will be 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Cooper Funeral Home. Service will be 11:00 AM Friday, June 21, 2024 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ed Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
