Doris Elizabeth Townsend passed away on July 10, 2024. Doris was born in July 1934 to Moses and Frances in Paul’s Valley, OK. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1952 and married her high school sweetheart, John Townsend, Sr., in 1953 in Okemah, OK. Doris worked at Castleberry High School in River Oaks, TX, while her four children were in school. She also worked for and retired from Southwestern Bell in Fort Worth, TX.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents, two brothers, Lloyd and Chester, and three sisters, Hazel, Louise, and Cathy.
Doris is survived by her children, Liz and Barry of Shawnee, Ramah and Al of Shawnee, Debbie and Don of Kingston, MI, and John Jr. and Suzanne Townsend of NV; nine grandchildren, 12 grand-children and many friends and extended family.
Services were held July 12, 2024, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel, with Don Rominger officiating. Burial will follow at Vista Cemetery in Asher, OK, under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
