Robert Nelson Meek Jr. passed away on Nov. 21, 2024, on his 63rd birthday, surrounded by his family. He lived a whole life despite living his final years with end-stage renal disease. Nelson was born on Nov. 21, 1961, in Shawnee, OK. to Robert Nelson Meek Sr., Helen Sue Brown Sanchez, and Sylvester Sanchez.

A proud Sac and Fox Nation member of the Thunder Clan, Nelson was a Boarding School Survivor who went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army, stationed in Germany as part of the Armored Unit. He worked as a skilled concrete truck driver for Block Concrete for several years. Over the years, Nelson became the family’s master of ceremonies for fireworks.

Nelson is survived by his three brothers, Harold Meek, Seneca Blasdale, and Sean Perez, as well as his sisters, Melanie Perez Johnson, Lorrie, and Angie Meek. He was a proud and loving uncle to his nieces, Shoshanna Johnson and Stevi Johnson, and nephews, Ryan Meek, Terrence Meek, and Skylar Perez. In addition, he has many cousins, extended family, and friends and was preceded in death by his beloved dog, Homer.

Services were held Nov. 25, 2024 at AE Funeral Services, 603 W. Independence St., Shawnee, OK.
