Shawnee American Legion Post 16 is Open for Bingo

  • After being fully renovated, the Shawnee American Legion Post 16 reopened on Sept. 28, 2024 - 17 months after the April 2023 tornado. They offer Bingo Nights on Saturdays from 6 to 10 pm and are now smoke-free. Countywide & Sun/Natasha Dunagan

  • American Legion Post 16 Commander Keith DiPatri shows a state document about an Oklahoma flag that flew over the state capitol. They have several items in their collection, as well as photos, which need to be restored, organized and identified, and he is hoping for volunteers.     Shawnee’s American Legion Gill-Mattox Post 16 reopened on Sept. 28, 2024, after being closed for 17 months.The building at 522 W. Saratoga was another casualty of the April 19, 2023, tornado, which blew the roof from the neighboring National Guard Armory into its eastern side. The twister also blew glass from the front door and windows throughout the building, along with rain and wind....
