Juanita Souix Smith passed away on April 9, 2025. Juanita was born in Phoenix, AZ, and lived in the Shawnee, OK area for most of her life. Juanita last worked at the Shawnee News Star, where she performed administrative duties until her retirement in 2007. Juanita is survived by her husband, Michael Smith; her sons, Jerry Rosser and his wife Kristy, and Travis Rosser and girlfriend Erica Cook and her three children Tyler, Ryan, and Bryn ; her two brothers, Bobby Barton and Phillip Parker; an aunt, an uncle, and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorsey Parker and Wrenetta Jackson, and her brothers, Jimmy Barton, Dee Barton, Dale Barton, and Archie Parker. Juanita will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Services were held April 14, 2025 at Walker Funeral Chapel.
