Rita Jo Jones, RiJo, passed away on May 7, 2025. RiJo was born Oct. 8, 1952 in Lubbock, TX to Sam and Lucille (Murphy) Campbell. Rita graduated from Checotah High School in 1971, then went on to join the United States Air Force that July. She honorably served 26 years until her retirement in 1997. Her honors included Air Force Achievement Medal with two devices, AF Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with one device, Air Force Longevity Service Award with four devices, Air Force Training Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal with one device, Air Reserve Meritorious Service Medal with six devices, Air Survived by Rita are her son, Matthew John Craig Jones; Lifelong Friend, Wanda Anderson; numerous nieces & nephews with several bonus nieces and nephews.
Preceding Rita in death are her parents; brothers: Branson Campbell, Kenneth Campbell, Larry Campbell; Sisters: Ricca Benton, Ruby Craig: Nephew, Calvin Benton; Niece, Lisa Newman.
Services were held May 12, 2025 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Tasha Casey-Loveless officiating. Burial followed at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
