Virgil Ray Little Charley passed away June 8, 2025. Virgil was born June 4, 1938 to Howard Little Charley and Lillie Mae (Polecate) Spoon.

Virgil married Neldean (White) Little Charley. Virgil was very traditional in his Absentee Shawnee culture; in 2020 he became the War Chief after the passing of his younger brother.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; his spouse, Neldean (White) Little Charley; son, Vernon Ray Little Charley; daughter, Sylvia (Little Charley) Tullius; sisters: Shirley Simpson, Christine Watkins, Marie (Spoon) Gibson, Geraldine Abrams, Betty (Flossie) Spoon-Doussett, Dorothy (Spoon) Rupe, Linda Sue Little Charley, and infant sisters, Claudine and Chloe Spoon; brothers: Bucky Little Charley, Wesley Little Charley, Robert Spoon, Carl Spoon, and infant brother, Luther Spoon; nephews, Thurman Simpson and Carl Spoon Jr.

Virgil is survived by his granddaughters, Kaley (Tullius) and husband Zach Free, and Ashley Tullius, all from Norman, OK; son-in-law, Jerry Tullius and wife, Rhonda; nieces: Rebecca and husband, Darrol Davis, of Norman, OK, Melinda and husband, Jeffery Ferrell, of Norman, OK, Paige Little Charley and partner, William Murdock, of Shawnee, OK, Flo and husband, Glenn Mann, of Tecumseh, OK, Lesa Simpson and Alex Blanchard of Tecumseh, OK, and Audrey (White) Dodds; great nieces, Makaiah Baker and Alyssa Ferrell; nephews: Russell and Terry Blanchard, Kevin Williams, Tony and wife, Shonna (Byers) Tiger; great nephews: Dakota Little Charley, Hunter Little Charley, William Little Charley, Mahzi (Little Chief) Murdock, Bishop Murdock and Ethan Ferrell; sister-in-law, Linda Little Charley of Shawnee, OK; sister, Linda Foster of Tecumseh, OK; and numerous extended family and friends.

Tribal rites were held June 9, 2025, at the Absentee Shawnee Tribal Community Building with a burial June 10 at the Little Charley Family Cemetery off Peebly Road, with Glenn (Ralph) Mann officiating.
