Children's Librarian Jairo Montelongo, along with Cody Swarny and Janie Ogle, help children in the Shawnee Public Library's "STEAM Kids" program to create a glow-in-the-dark fort out of plastic rods and orbs on June 26. Julie Moring, the Children's Department Manager at Shawnee, said they have 251 people signed up for their Summer Learning Challenge, which is up from 219 last year. The program runs through Aug. 15, and she said there is still time to register.

Giuffrida spoke about wildlife living in Oklahoma and ways to help them. She was assisted by longtime volunteer Debbie Saltzman and said they rehabilitate more than 200 species in Noble.
